Turning Point Providence Center utilizes Adult Assertive Community Treatment (AACT) on behalf of individuals with a history of severe psychiatric disability. The locally-based services are provided through a full service partnership with individuals who are at risk for placement in a higher level of restrictive treatment. AACT utilizes a wellness and recovery-oriented partnership, empowering individuals and families to make decisions about their overall health and quality of life needs.

Services strengthen community integration, mental and physical well-being, vocational and educational opportunities, and healthy relationships and level of independence.

Turning Point Providence Center also offers Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) which represents a process of determining an individual’s need for involuntary mental health treatment. Since May, 2008, AOT has provided alternatives for clients who have been caught in a cycle of hospitalizations or, in some cases, acts of violence that led to incarceration. These outreach and engagement efforts have been effective in increasing the number of clients opting for voluntary treatment and drastically reducing the need for court hearings.

"Providence Center staff works with both Laura's Law/Assisted Outpatient Treatment and Assertive Community Treatment clients. Every day, people remind us of what is possible when they are empowered to take the next step on a path to mental health; we are so grateful to be a part of their journey."
